David Winges papers, 1943-1983, bulk 1943-1945.

World War II military records, pamphlets, and memorabilia; 1945 correspondence related to Winges being declared missing in action; March 1945 journal in which Winges describes his journey through Hungary and Romania after a crash landing in Hungary; 1962-63 correspondence with Arnold Bichman, a Romanian friend who fled to Israel to escape the Communist regime; 1981 typed memoir relating his war experiences; and 1983 typed essay recalling people and places from his childhood in Louisville's West End. David Winges was a tail gunner on a B-24 in the 460th Bombardment Group; he was stationed in Spinazzola, Italy in 1944-45.
